The National Registry of Australian Sound

Nominations for the 2009 additions to the Sounds of Australia registry are now OPEN.

Use this online nomination form or download the Word or PDF nomination forms using the links on the left.

Recordings may be a single item or group of related items; published or unpublished; and may contain music, spoken word, or any other sound.

Criteria for selection include artistic excellence, historical relevance, technical or scientific achievement, and prominence in shaping Australia’s culture and identity. To be eligible for inclusion, sound recordings must have been made in Australia, or by Australians, and must be at least 20 years old.

Individuals may submit up to three nominations per year.

Nominated recording (may be a single song, an album, or the complete body of work from an artist or label; may be published or unpublished, and as diverse as sound effects, an advertising jingle, a political speech, a radio news broadcast, or a great sporting moment. Please be brief but specific)
