The Annual Longford Lyell Lecture celebrates Australia's film heritage through talks by prominent figures from the Australian film industry. Jan Chapman, one of Australia's leading film producers delivered the 2nd Annual Longford Lyell Lecture discussing Women in Australian film on the 28th of August at the Chauvel Cinema, Paddington.
Screenings of Jane Campion's first film Peel (1982) and Gillian Armstrong's feature The Last Days Of Ches Nouz (1992) followed the lecture. Jan Chapman has produced some of Australia's most important contemporary films and television programs including The Piano, Love Serenade,The Last Days of Chez Nous, Two Friends, Sweet and Sour and Come In Spinner. Her latest film as producer, Lantana, was a critical and box office success and won seven AFI Awards.
