THE LONGFORD LYELL LECTURES - Bertrand Tavernier
Bertrand Tavernier has been described as “…the French Martin Scorsese”: a veteran director of nearly 20 features, an encyclopaedic cinema historian and a passionate believer in preserving film heritage. The NFSA welcomes Bertrand Tavernier to give the 2008 Longford Lyell Lecture, and to introduce his film Life and Nothing But ([La vie et rien d’autre] France, 1989, 139’ (PG)), with Philippe Noiret in a haunting look at France in 1919 and the legacy of the Great War.
