Expression of Interest

National Film & Sound Archive Café Licence

The National Film & Sound Archive (NFSA) is seeking expressions of interest for an individual or organisation to operate a café and bar on the NFSA premises in Acton. Our Acton headquarters receives approximately 80,000 visitors per year, of whom 30,000 are school children. Additionally, the Arc cinema receives approximately 20,000 patrons.

The operator will be required to open during weekdays, the weekend and for after hours Arc cinema screenings. Additionally, the operator would be offered the opportunity to quote for all events (including venue hire) held at the NFSA, some of which would be out of normal working hours. The NFSA intends to expand its event program into the future.

The NFSA would support any new operator by providing incentives such as payment of utilities, provision of parking, lockable storage, payment of music broadcasting licences and the supply of most café equipment. The arrangement would be governed through a contract between the parties. The Acton café site is newly refurbished, self contained, with serving counters, fridges, tables, chairs and other equipment. An inspection of the site is highly encouraged before submitting an expression of interest and a briefing is available.

The NFSA is seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial operator who can provide a range of food and beverages to meet the needs of NFSA visitors and staff. The serving of alcohol would require a liquor licence.
